Microsoft Hololens and the NFL
As entertainment moves beyond the TV screen, exciting new opportunities have opened up for us in the motion graphics industry. I've had the opportunity to develop content for VR using the Oculus Rift, built demos for the Samsung Gear S smartwatch, worked with Google Glass — and now the HoloLens.
Microsoft HoloLens is a pair of smartglasses that makes “futuristic" gesture-controlled augmented reality possible today.
This spot showcased a deal between Microsoft and the NFL, in which fans would have access to extra content during games, such as 3D replays, real-time player statistics, and extended video content. The video picked up a huge amount of press! Here are a few of the articles:
- TIME: Microsoft’s New Gadget Could Change How We Watch Football
- Engadget: Microsoft shows how NFL fans could use HoloLens in the future
- The Verge: Microsoft's new video imagines a HoloLens-powered Super Bowl party

This is a Cardboard Castle and Microsoft project, that as a freelancer, I had a very small part in. The great live action production, compositing, and design work in the spot are entirely Cardboard Castle's. I was responsible for animation and some of the modeling shown in the screenshots below.
